The type of puzzle is a "Nurikabe". Other names include Cell Structure and In The Stream. Every square in the grid that does not have a number in it must be either black or white and the following rules must be satisfied: 1. All the black squares must be connected, forming one continuous and branching line, 2. Each white square must belong to one and only one island of white squares, where each island contains only one number and the number of white squares in each island is equal to the number in it , and 3. The BLACK squares can never form a block 2x2 or bigger.
